Admission to the Bachelor of Science course will be on a first come first serve basis. The selected list of the candidates for Bachelor of Computer Application course will be displayed on the college notice board on the 25th of May 2017, after which the admission will be finalised.

Eligibility Criteria
  • Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.)

    A candidate who has passed the two year pre-university examination conducted by the Pre university Boards in Karnataka and other States with science subjects or any other examination considered as equivalent thereto by the College is eligible for admission to the 1st semester of the course.

  • Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA)

    A candidate who has passed the two years Pre-University Examination conducted by the Pre-University Education in Karnataka and other States with Mathematics/ Three years Diploma in Engineering of Government of Karnataka are eligible for admission to BCA program.

    Age of the candidate who is seeking admission to B Sc and BCA programs should not be 22 years or more at the time of admission.

  • Admission to Master of Science (M.Sc) General

    Candidates who have passed the three year Bachelor’s degree examination of Bangalore University or any other University considered as equivalent thereto, with the respective subject as optional / major / special / main subject, any other allied subjects, are eligible for admission to the Master of Science programs provided they have secured a minimum of 40% marks in the aggregate of all subjects and 50% (45% for SC/ST/Category I candidates) marks in the cognate subject.

  • M Sc in Biotechnology

    Candidates passing B.Sc. Degree examination with at least one subject as optional in Biological sciences, (Biotechnology, Botany, Zoology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Molecular Biology, Sericulture) with Chemistry or Biochemistry as other optional, or two subjects in biological sciences are eligible. Candidates who have passed B Sc Honours in Biological Sciences are also eligible.

    In absence of candidates in (a), the Graduates in Agricultural Science, Dairy Sciences, Horticulture, Forestry, Fisheries, Pharmacy, Engineering (Biotechnology), Medicine / Dental or Agricultural Engineering, with 50% marks in the aggregate are eligible.

  • M Sc in Microbiology

    Candidates passing B.Sc. Degree examination with at least one subject as optional in Biological sciences, (Microbiology, Biotechnology, Botany, Zoology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Molecular Biology, and Sericulture), B Sc. Honours, with Chemistry or Biochemistry as other optional, or two subjects in biological sciences are eligible.

  • M Sc in Mathematics

    Graduates who have secured 40% marks in the aggregate of all subjects and at least 50% marks in Mathematics (cognate subject) at the degree level are eligible.

  • M Sc in Physics

    Graduates who have studied Physics and Mathematics as two of the three cognate subjects and secured 40% marks in the aggregate of all subjects and 50% marks in the aggregate of all optional subjects at the degree level are eligible..

  • M Sc in Chemistry

    Graduates who have secured 40% marks in the aggregate of all the subjects and 50% marks in Chemistry (cognate subject) and studied Mathematics at 10 + 2 or PUC level are eligible.

  • M Sc in Zoology

    B.Sc. graduates who have secured 40% marks in the aggregate of all subjects and at least 50% marks in Zoology (cognate subject) at the degree level are eligible.

  • M Sc in Botany

    Graduates who have secured 40% marks in the aggregate of all subjects and 50% marks in Botany / Applied Botany (cognate subject) in the qualifying examination are eligible..

  • Age of the candidate who is seeking admission to Masters in Science should not be 25 years or more at the time of admission to the M Sc programs.

    Course Structure & Syllabus

List of original documents to be furnished at the time of admission

  • Statement of Marks (SSLC, PUC)
  • Transfer Certificate
  • Character Certificate
  • 3 Recent passport sized photographs
  • Caste/Income certificate issued by Tahsildar (if applicable)
  • Address Proof (Aadhar card/ voters id)

Note

  • Students of other states should furnish Migration/ Eligibility Certificate
  • SC/ST/OBC & Others claiming exemption of fees as per Govt rules on basis of their caste, parental income, should furnish the original income/caste certificate for the current academic year along with an attested copy.

Instruction to Students

Schedule of Fees

The prescribed fees, in full, shall be paid on or before the date specified.

Payment of Fees

  • Fees once paid will not be refunded.
  • Students fulfilling the criteria for scholarships will have their fees refunded as per the government norms

Attendance

  • Each semester shall be taken as a unit for the purpose of calculating attendance and a student shall be considered to have put in the required attendance for the Semester, if he has attended not less than 75% of the number of working hours/periods in each paper/subject in each semester
  • There shall be no provision to condone shortage of attendance
  • A candidate who does not have 75% of attendance shall not be eligible to take examination of the concerned semester. Such candidates are required to re-attend their classes in the immediate subsequent year and on fulfilling the required minimum attendance the candidate may be allowed to write examination in these papers
  • A candidate who fails to statify the requirement of attendance in a semester shall repeat that semester when offered in the immediate subsequent year. This facility shall be available only twice for a candidate in the entire course.
  • In the case of a candidate who represents college/university, Karnataka State/Country in Sports/NCC/NSS/Scouts and Guides/Cultural/Academic Activity or any official activities shall be given attendance for the entire duration of that activity based on the recommedation of the respective staff and documentary proof

Conduct & Etiquette

  • Student should be punctual and regular in attending classes
  • Student should wear their ID cards in the campus
  • Assignments & Appraisal will be conducted periodically
  • Impertinent behaviour on and off the classrooms, discourtesy towards members of the staff or any act which affects the discipline of the college will be severely dealt with.
  • Students should conform to dress etiquette
  • Students are not permitted to use cell phones in the college premises. If used, it will be confiscated and a penalty of Rs. 500 will be levied.
  • Littering, defacing of the walls & furniture in the college premises are punishable.
  • An act of indiscipline such as ragging will be dealt stringently

Examinations

  • Student’s assessment is done through internal and external evaluation.
  • Internal evaluation is creatively done through quiz, student seminars & group discussions in addition to the tests & assignments which are held periodically. On the basis of class performance & attendance, internal assessment marks will be awarded at the end of each semester.
  • Credits will be awarded for active participation in co-curricular and extracurricular activities during the semester. All students should mandatorily participate in any one of the activities.
  • Declaration of the results includes the aggregate of theory, practical and internal marks

Mentoring

  • 20 students are mentored by a faculty who records both personal and academic progress.
  • Parents are informed about their performance. Feedback from parents is documented and implemented for effective functioning of the college.

Assembly

  • An assembly provides a common platform for developing and sharing values thereby creating a very positive ethos. It provides the space for faculty and student community to come together for some time which helps in reconnecting with the entire college. In GSC, daily assemblies are held which is mandatory for all students. This activity opens up a plethora of oppurtunities for students to imbibe the spirit of togetherness and display their talents. Students host this activity where they deliberate upon contemporary issues, eminent personalities and value building.

Parent Teacher Meetings

  • Parent teacher meeting is held in each semester to apprise about the student performance & progress.
  • Counselling is done for students as per their requirements
